After more than 20 years in the independent and high-end eyewear industry, founder and licensed optician Brandon Zimmerly saw an opportunity to create a different kind of optical experience—one centered on individuality, craftsmanship, and personal connection.
Located in downtown Woodstock, Project Optical is thoughtfully curated around independent eyewear designers and luxury brands whose work goes beyond the ordinary. These are designers who value distinctive aesthetics, exceptional materials, and the art of making something well. Rather than following mass-market trends, we seek out eyewear with character—frames that feel personal, distinctive, and made to be appreciated.
Our approach is equally personal. We take the time to understand your style, your needs, and how you want your eyewear to fit into your life. From discovering the right frame to precision fitting and custom lens work finished in our on-site lab, every detail is considered.

Unlike many optical retailers, we don’t rely solely on outside labs—we craft and perfect your prescription lenses on-site, in our finishing lab in Woodstock, Ga. This allows us to deliver faster turnaround times, ensure uncompromising quality, and maintain complete control over every detail of your eyewear. We also offer complete custom lens options. From precision lens edging to meticulous adjustments, our finishing lab combines advanced technology with expert craftsmanship, so you leave with eyewear that fits flawlessly and looks exceptional.

Brandon Zimmerly, LDO, owner and licensed optician, brings over 20 years of experience in the independent and high-end eyewear industry. His expertise in frame styling, precision fitting, lens technology, and custom eyewear allows him to guide each client toward eyewear that is as individual as they are.
Our optometric care is provided by Dr. Cossick, OD, our consistent PRN optometrist, along with additional licensed PRN optometrists who provide coverage as needed. Together, our optometric and optical services allow us to provide comprehensive eye exams while offering the personalized attention and technical expertise Project Optical is known for.
From your eye exam and frame selection to lens design, finishing, and final fitting, our goal is to make every step of your experience thoughtful, personal, and precise.
Brandon Zimmerly
LDO, ABO, NCLEC
With more than two decades of experience in the optical industry, Brandon Zimmerly brings a discerning eye for design, craftsmanship, and precision to Project Optical. A Licensed Dispensing Optician since 2007, he specializes in independent designer eyewear, personalized frame styling, and custom lens solutions tailored to each client’s individual needs.
Brandon founded Project Optical to create a more personal and thoughtful approach to eyewear—one that values individuality, exceptional craftsmanship, and genuine connection. He believes choosing eyewear should be an enjoyable, collaborative experience, and that the right frame should be more than functional; it should feel distinctly yours and reflect the person wearing it.
Through careful guidance and a highly personalized fitting process, Brandon helps each client discover eyewear that complements their features, lifestyle, and personal style. His goal is to make every visit feel welcoming, inspiring, and uniquely tailored to the individual.
Thomas M. Cossick
OD
Thomas M. Cossick, OD, often referred to as “Dr. Tom”, has been practicing optometry in Georgia for over 30 years. His emphasis in patient care is to provide friendly, thorough eye care that results in the most clear and comfortable visual outcome possible for each patient.
Whether your reason for seeking vision care is eye strain from computers and other digital screen devices, prescription eye wear, contact lenses, or medical eye issues such as infection, dry eyes, cataracts, or other conditions, the appropriate treatment or referral to a specialist will be provided.
A graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Cossick is a member of the Georgia and American Optometric Associations.
He enjoys family, outdoor activities, and gardening.
